Removing Moles, Warts, And Skin Tags Effectively

February 17th, 2009

Moles and warts are quite common and it’s easy to remove them. But what if you have skin tags? Can you also remove them?

Skin tags create cosmetic problems and insurance companies don’t cover such procedure. You need to spend money right from your pockets if you want to remove these unsightly lesions. Since not all people have the capacity to spend huge money in removing the skin tags, moles, or warts, here are some effective home methods of getting rid of them.

plantars warts, pictures of gential wartsIn the case of skin tags, some say that you can just cut or scrape them off. However, if this is done improperly, it can lead to infection. Make sure that you know what you’re doing and you need to sterilize the nail clippers or scissors first. Soak the materials in sanitizer or place them over fire. Before cutting the skin tags, prepare some bandage and cotton just in case there is bleeding.

Freezing is another method of removing skin tags, as well as warts and moles. Before, this procedure was exclusively performed by doctors but you can already find ‘freezing’ products in the market. It is already provided with instructions that you need to follow carefully. However, you can only use this option if you have small tags. The freezing products are available in kits and the kits are less costly as compared to the services given by doctors.

Another method is to cut the blood supply of the skin tags and other skin lesions. You can do this by tying a tight knot at the skin tag’s base. The string should be tied tightly. You can have someone tie the knot for you to ensure the tightness. Leave the string on for a couple of days. Since the blood supply is cut off, the skin tag will eventually fall off after a few days.

These are effective home methods for removing skin tags and even warts or moles. However, you need to be sure that the skin lesions are not malignant. If the skin tags, moles, and warts changed in color and size dramatically, schedule an appointment with your doctor. This is the very first sign that indicates malignant skin lesions. If anything goes wrong with the above home methods, don’t hesitate to consult a doctor as well.

Safety is very important and if you have second thoughts in carrying out the home methods, it would be best not to do it anymore and instead, consult a doctor. Aside from the home methods mentioned, there are still other home remedies that you can try like applying certain herbs on the affected area. If after all these home methods the skin tags, moles, and warts are not removed, a visit to the doctor is advised.

Although it can cost you some money, it would help to know that you’re in safe hands. The doctors can guarantee you that the moles, warts, and skin tags will be removed after the procedure. Most of the procedures can be done in a couple of hours and you don’t need to stay overnight at the clinic or hospital.

Removing moles, warts, and skin tags is very easy. In most cases, the skin lesions are harmless and can heal over time. But since the lesions cause cosmetic problems, you need to remove them immediately.

The Quick & Painless Way Of Removing Skin Tags

February 9th, 2009

Skin tag removal is not a complicated process when completed the right way. The following article will brief you on what they are, why people want to remove skin tags and identify different treatment methods to get rid of skin tags.

pictures of skin tags, skin tag picturesA skin tag is a small harmless growth usually no more than 5mm in size that either protrudes from the skin or is attached by a skin stalk or peduncle. We can suffer from skin tags at any age, although they are more frequent as we age.

They are most common around the face, eyelids, the neck, the groin and the breast areas and are a fleshy colour. Experts are still not sure what causes skin tags, however we do know that apart from being a cause of irritation and itchiness when they rub against clothes or there is friction when rubbed against other parts of the body, skin tags are a harmless medical condition and can be left alone.

As they are not a medical risk, general medical insurance does not include skin tags treatment. However, this does not stop people wanting to remove their skin tags. The vast majority of skin tag sufferers seek to remove them because of the psychological effect they have.

They are a major cause of anxiety for many sufferers especially if they appear on the face and eyelids. Luckily, there are many skin tag removal options available. The first option is to pay for a doctor to remove the tag with surgical scissors. This a very effective, but costly method.

Alternative solutions include laser removal or freezing the skin tag. Another option is to remove them yourself. A common method is to tie a piece of dental floss or thread around the base of the tag cutting off the blood supply. You then either cut the tag off with surgical scissors or wait for it to fall off.

For the less squeamish and a solution we recommend there is a skin tag removal serum. The best serums only use natural ingredients that work in harmony with your body and they don’t leave a scar or blemish afterwards. You simply apply the serum to the skin tag or skin tags and wait for the skin tag to fall off.

Moles - A Common Skin Condition

February 6th, 2009

Two of the most common skin conditions are the presence of moles and dermatitis. Moles can have more serious consequences than the irritation of dermatitis.

picture of mole, painful moleMoles occur when the cells in the skin that give it its pigment, called melanocytes, grow in clusters. These cells normally grow throughout the skin, but when too many grow in the same place a mole occurs. Most moles appear before the age of 25, but some may appear much later. Moles can remain static or change over time. Although most are not dangerous, some can be malignant and lead to melanoma. Any mole that oozes or becomes painful or sensitive should be checked out by a dermatologist. Moles that suddenly appear after the age of 25 or begin to change or grow should also be evaluated.

When evaluating your moles, keep the following in mind. Moles should be round. If your moles are asymmetrical, or irregular in shape, have it evaluated. If you find a mole that is larger than ‘, mention it to your doctor or dermatologist. If you find that your mole has an irregular or jagged edge, or is not all one color, have your doctor look at it. Finally, any mole that is red or blue may be cause for concern.

Treating moles is not difficult. If a mole is embarrassing, or becomes irritated under your clothing, you may ask your doctor to remove it. Moles can be frozen with a chemical, after which they dry up and fall off. Other moles can be simply cut off of the skin. Often, doctors will remove entire moles that seem suspicious and test the tissue for cancer. If any malignancy is found, they may cut out a slightly larger area of skin and then suture the site closed.

Check your skin regularly for changes in your moles. If any seem suspicious, or any changes have occurred, let your doctor know. Preventing a problem is as easy as going on ‘mole patrol.’

Wart Removal And Cure

Read on to know more about the types of warts, their removal, cure and prevention…

Warts are harmless growths which are small in size. They are the result of a viral infection caused by the Human Papilloma Virus family. There are nearly 60 different varieties of the Human Papilloma Virus. Each type prefers a particular part of the body.

seed warts, remove wartWarts normally occur on the skin or on the mucous membrane. Warts can spread from one part of the body to the other and from one person to the other.

As such warts are quite a common problem with children, young adults and women. Normally the virus enters the body through the skin or mucous membrane. Symptoms of warts do not occur for at least 1 to 8 months of infection.

The various types of warts are distinguished by the places on the body where they appear. They are:

  • Hand Warts: These grow on the fingers, around the nails and the backs of hands. Often they appear where the skin is broken.
  • Foot Warts or Plantar Warts: These appear on the balls of the feet, the heels and the bottoms of the toes.
  • Flat Warts: These can appear anywhere on the body. These are smaller, smoother and flatter compared to other warts. Also they appear in large numbers on the surface of the body.
  • Genital Warts: This is a form of a sexually transmitted disease and is passed on during sexual activity.

When the Human Papiloma Virus infection spreads and infects the person, certain symptoms begin to show up. The symptoms of warts include the appearance of small bumps on the surface of the skin, which if left untreated can spread some more, grow up to an inch in size and cause a lot of pain. Often these bumps appear in clumps or groups. The surface of the warts may also be scaly at times.

Wart Removal: Wart Cure and Wart Treatment

Wart removal is often quite a simple procedure. Therefore, one must show the warts to one’s doctor immediately after they are seen. If the warts remain untreated for a long time, then it becomes more complicated to treat them. There are also a variety of home remedies or alternative treatments for wart cure and wart removal.

Several wart treatment measures are over the counter treatments and medications. These over the counter treatments are usually in form of lotions or ointments. They help remove the skin where the warts have appeared. At the end of the treatment, the skin with the warts simply falls off, effecting a cure.

Alternative remedies include several products or treatments like plasters which cause the skin to become moist and even saturated with water. This causes the skin layer to peel off, taking the wart with it.

Another method of treatment is with the use of duct tape. The warts are kept loosely covered with duct tape for several weeks which causes the warts and the skin to come off.

There are a variety of home remedies or alternative treatment measures for wart cure. One of the most well known methods is the application of vitamin E to the skin surrounding the wart, and then crushing a clove of raw garlic and placing it on the wart. The area is then covered with an adhesive bandage. The garlic causes a blister to form and then the wart falls off within a week.

Another home remedy involves chopping a raw onion. Cover the chopped onion with salt and leave this dish covered overnight. A juice will form. The next day apply this juice on the warts. Do this twice a day till the warts disappear. Applying the juice of the stems of fig trees and leaves has also been known do the trick.

However, there are also other methods of wart treatment and wart cure which can be done by a doctor. One of them is cryosurgery. In this process, the tissue is frozen using liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen normally has a temperature of 330 Degrees Fahrenheit or 200 Degrees Celsius. Applying the liquid nitrogen to the affected skin causes the tissues to freeze. This helps the doctor to remove the frozen tissue which has been infected by the warts. The area then heals fairly quickly.

Another method used by the doctors is called electrocautery. In this process, an electric needle is used to burn off the wart. This ends up killing the tissue around the warts, thus helping the doctor to peel off the skin tissue along with the warts on it.

Laser surgery for wart removal also works on the same principle. The Laser beam aims at the area of the wart and the heat ends up killing the skin around the wart. The skin, along with the wart then simply falls off.

Genital warts and Foot Warts are comparatively more difficult to cure and heal. The reason is that they need specialized treatments and often the virus remains within the skin even if the wart falls off. Therefore the cure also includes chemical treatments for killing off the virus as well.

Wart Treatment: Wart Prevention

Prevention is the best cure. The only way to prevent warts is to maintain a good hygiene and a balanced diet. The vitamins A, C and E help make the immune system stronger. This can also help one to not get infected with warts.
